Anna Wesley

WESLEY Anna Clyde McMillan, 85, widow of John L. Wesley, Jr., and resident of Lexington Country Place, died peacefully, Tue, July 29, 2014. Born November 18, 1928 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Reba and Thomas H. McMillan, the third of four children. She spent her childhood in Chattanooga, TN, and graduated from Dalton (GA) High School. She received her B.A. in Music from Georgia State College for Women and M.A. in Piano Performance from Eastman School of Music. She married John Lincoln Wesley, Jr., in 1956. Jack and Anna were Methodist missionaries in the Congo, 1958-1961. A piano instructor from 1943-2013, she was a member of the National Federation of Music, and volunteered with Nathaniel Mission and Eastern State Hospital. She was an active member of Southern Hills UMC for 54 years and was past president of United Methodist Women at Southern Hills. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Laura Wesley (James) Owens, Carolyn Wesley (Kenneth) Stalcup, John Thomas (Amelia) Stinson-Wesley; grandchildren: Daniel Stalcup, Michael Stalcup, Kyle Owens, Trevor Owens, Kyra Stinson-Wesley and Evan Stinson-Wesley. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Thomas H. McMillan, Jr., Charlotte Palmer and Robert McMillan. Service will be held on Sat, Aug 2, 2014 at 11am at Southern Hills United Methodist Church, 2356 Harrodsburg Rd., officiated by Rev. Dennis Burrows and Rev. Tom Stinson-Wesley. Pall bearers: Seekers Sunday School Class, Southern Hills UMC. Visitation will be 10am till service time. Milward-Southland is in charge of arrangements.
