Audrey Otto Obituary
Audrey (Tolie) Wallace Otto
February 18, 1936 - April 18, 2023
Lexington, Kentucky - Audrey (Tolie) Wallace Otto passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2023. She was surrounded by love, light and gratitude.
Mom was a remarkable woman. Filled with immense courage and determination. She loved hard and fiercely. If you were blessed to be one of those she loved, you knew you had everything she had to offer. She was so generous, albeit in her own way, and that is only fitting as she was most certainly the conductor of her symphony.
She instilled in her children and grandchildren the idea that for those that are given much, much is expected. She also shared her absolute awe and love for nature which has gifted each and everyone of us with the knowledge that there is absolutely something responsible for all that beauty and magnificence and it isn't us.
Mom will be dearly missed and yet, we are all beyond grateful that this part of her journey has come to an end and that she has moved on to the next. There are many that were waiting on her.
Henry Van Dyke put it so beautifully :
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails
to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and the sky come
to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight
to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her
And just at the moment when someone at my side says
"There, she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming
And other voices ready to take up the glad shout;
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.
We would be remiss without thanking and expressing our deepest gratitude to those who have so lovingly taken care of mom during these last few years. The depth of our appreciation for the love and care you showed her is without measure. Thank you
There will be an open house on Saturday April 29th from 11am to 3pm. It will be held at 7 Deepwood Drive. We welcome all that want to come share in our tears, joy, and laughter.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Lexington Hum ane Society, The Alano Club, The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center or a charity of your choosing.
