Bertie Conway

CONWAY Bertie Jr., beloved father and granddaddy, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2015. Bertie was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Hardin Conway, his father, Bertie Conway Sr., his sister, Mary Kirkland, and his wife, Reba J. Eldridge Conway. Bertie was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky and he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky. He was also a decorated U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War. Bertie was the general manager for Marlowe Tire Company for over thirty years. After retiring from Marlowe Tire Company, Bertie worked as a salesman for Bluegrass Tire Company. Bertie was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He enjoyed working in his yard and sitting on the breezeway reading his newspaper. God is certainly going to enjoy his new gardener! Bertie is survived by one son, Walter Steven Conway (Donna), one daughter, Candetta Faye Conway Holdren (Doug), one granddaughter, Katie Layne Conway Coyle (Brian), and one grandson, James Steven Holdren. He is also survived by three sisters, Jean Robinson, Caroline Campbell (Joe), Jerry Price (John), and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5-8pm at Kerr Brothers' Funeral Home-Main Street. Services will be at the funeral home at 10am on Saturday, January 31, 2015 with burial to follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
