Beverly Ann Gupton Sullivan
October 18, 1950 - April 6, 2025
Campbellsville, Kentucky - Beverly Ann Gupton Sullivan, 74, of Campbellsville, was born October 18th, 1950 in Finley, KY and departed this life on April 6th, 2025 in Lexington surrounded by her family.
Beverly united in marriage to Mr. Bobby Sullivan on September 19th 1970. They proudly celebrated being together for almost 56 years and created a lifetime of memories with their countless adventures.
Besides her husband, Beverly is survived by:
Two daughters: Jessi Sullivan of Campbellsville and Whitney Sullivan-Ramos and her husband Saul of Lexington.
Two grandchildren: Taliyah Hazelwood and her significant other, Daesean VanCleave, and Kaia Sullivan all of Campbellsville.
One great-grandson: Shae VanCleave.
Two brothers: Tom Gupton of Campbellsville and Pete Gupton and his wife, Bet, of Finley.
Sister-in-law: Dorothy Gupton of Finley.
Nine nieces and nephews to whom she was the fun Aunt and a host of great & great-great nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by:
Her parents, Willard Thornton Gupton and Anna Lee Jarboe Gupton.
One brother Willard Gupton.
One sister-in-law Jewel Gupton.
One infant niece Pamela Gupton.
One infant great-nephew Curtis Colvin.
Beverly was known throughout her life by many names; Beverly Ann to her parents, Crickett to her Gupton family and anyone in Finley, Motorcycle Mama during her "hot-rodding days" with Bobby (The Kawasaki Kid), Bev to her friends and coworkers, Momma to her girls, Mamaw to her granddaughters and great-grandson, and Mrs. Sullivan to thousands of kids that attended school over the years.
She graduated from Taylor County High School in 1969, Campbellsville College in 1972, and later obtained her Master's and Rank I certification from Western Kentucky University in addition to continuing her education at the University of Kentucky to become one of the first Reading Recovery teachers in the state. For thirty-six years, she was known as Mrs. Sullivan to children in Hart County (4 years) and at Lebanon Elementary in Marion County (32 years). She taught many throughout the years and loved every one of her kids. During her career, she was the Marion County Education Associate President for several years and a member of the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) and National Education Association (NEA). Beverly often joked that she spent all of her life going to school. During her career, she mentored many, partnered with state legislators regarding funding and programs, questioned the status quo, and advocated for teachers and students.
She loved spoiling her family both with her country cooking and delicious desserts and with selflessly caring for them. She was a supportive wife of all of her husband's ideas and shenanigans (most recently buying a sawmill) and ensured that Bobby was always taken care of (his words). Beverly was avid reader, switching to audio books in her later years, enjoyed playing the slots "at the boat", and listening to music, especially John Prine and Alan Jackson. She was a great listener and confidant for both sets of her girls, a wonderful cuddler of her great-grandson, an unlimited source of wit and dark humor, and a free spirit. She was the rock for her family; setting the bar high for each of them and loving them through all things.
She will be missed by many and live on through all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
VISITATION: Sunday, April 13th, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.
FUNERAL: Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville. Burial to follow in Phillips Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS: Her children and grandchildren.
HONORARY PALLBEARER: Shae VanCleave.
Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of donations to Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at UK Healthcare and may be made at the funeral home.
