I am the oldest daughter of Gobel Reed originally from Paris, Ky and I want to say how sorry I was to hear of the passing of Billy. He was a good friend of Daddy's and I have heard about the infamous Billy Claypool all my life. My Dad used to tell us stories about Billy. He told us he made friends with Billy because Billy was "bad" and Daddy wanted him on his side. When those 2 got together, it was so much fun to see them...they carried on so. The last time I seen Billy was when Daddy passed away in Dec. 1999. You could tell he was devastated at Daddy's passing. I would like to think that now Daddy has his best friend in heaven with him. God bless you all and you will be in our prayers. Consider yourselves all blessed because you had such a special man in your lives.

I have heard the name Billy Claypool my whole life due to my daddy, Gobel Reed. Billy was his childhood best friend. I remember him telling my sisters and I how they met.. on a ball field. He and daddy fought and daddy said he (Billy) whipped his tail so daddy knew that he was meant to be his best friend. :) When daddy died, it was such an incredible surprise to see Billy at daddy's funeral. I understand all of your pain and my prayers are definitely with you. May God bless you and heal your hearts. You wont ever be the same but the memories do help you...

I wanted to write and let you know how very sorry I am for your loss. I am the middle daughter of Gobel Reed and Billy Claypool was my Dad's best friend. I heard his name so many times over the years, And the stories were always so funny. Losing someone you love is the hardest thing anyone will ever face...especially when it is an unexpected death. You just have to remember the good times and let your memories make you stronger...and when they quit working...Pray, Pray and Pray some more. Only God will can get you through this. Me and my family will be Praying for you and yours as you go through this. Having faced it our selves 5 years ago, the only thing I can say is be close to the ones you love. Phyllis...stay close to your children and grand children and all of you stay close to your Mother. You will see that when one of you falls apart, that's when God makes the others stronger. Lean on each other and remember how Blessed you are to have a had such a wonderful man in your life!
