Burgess Mullins

70 of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Rockcastle County, KY on September 13, 1947 the son of George W. and Dollie Pittman Mullins. He retired from the City of Mt. Vernon Water Department after 25 years of service and was also a masonry worker. He attended Blue Springs Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of fifty years, Betty Spoonamore Mullins; his children, Rick Mullins and wife Julie of Brodhead and Matthew Mullins of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Scroggins, Samuel Burgess Mullins, Joshua Luke Mullins, Victoria Elizabeth Mullins, Chloe Leonna Mullins, Chelsey Grace Branham, Mattie Sue Mullins, and Blake Logan Branham; his great grandchildren, Layla Michelle Scroggins and Bryson Scroggins; a brother, Henry Logan Mullins; and a sister, Neoma Bernice Beasley and husband Roy. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Sadie Sowder, Faye Kirby, Flora Kirby, Cinnie Mae Mullins, and Doris Ada Mullins; and three brothers, Junior Mullins, Bill Mullins, and Boyd Mullins. Funeral services for Mr. Mullins will be conducted Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 PM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tim Hampton. Burial will follow in the Pittman Cemetery.
