Charles Arnold Obituary

Charles J. "Jack" Arnold
August 23, 1950 - September 28, 2022
Ft. Myers, Florida - The Honorable Charles John "Jack" Arnold died on September 28, 2022. It took a hurricane to get the Judge. He was the son of the late Sam W. Arnold Jr. and Johnnie Cook Arnold of Cynthiana, KY. He is survived by his beloved sons, Charles John Arnold, Jr., M.D. (Aleah) and William Caswell Arnold, M.D. (Jacqueline), and his grandchildren, Georgia, Paige, and William Caswell, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Sam W. Arnold, III. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army with the rank of 1st. LT in 1981. He began his judgeships initially as district Judge in 1982, then as Circuit Judge in 1984 in the 18th Judicial District (Harrison, Pendleton, Nicholas and Robertson Counties). He was subsequently presidentially appointed as an United States Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration in 1989 where he served for the past 33 years. He valued his heritage of agriculture and education and continued farming in his hometown of Cynthiana. He also served as an adjunct professor at the Appalachian School of Law. The Judge enjoyed watching Disney movies with his grandchildren, laughing at himself and dancing with pretty ladies. He will be cherished most as a selfless father and doting grandfather. Funeral services are currently being arranged. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to: Unitedwaylee.org or sp-foundation.org

Attended high school with Jack in Harrison County. Not only was he an honor student, but he excelled at football, basketball, and baseball.

He was a wonderful, happy person and had a remarkable career as a judge. He will be sorely missed. So sad to learn of his passing.

I had the honor of knowing Judge Arnold in my capacity as a Social Security claimant representative. He honored our community with kindness and compassion for the disabled population he served. He will truly be missed. God bless him, his family, friends and colleagues.
