Berea , Kentucky - The Rev. Charles W. Bertrand, retired United Methodist pastor, was promoted to glory Friday, September 16, 2022.
He met his beloved wife (Elizabeth) of 50 years at Cascade College and together they came to Asbury Seminary, Wilmore Ky. in 1956. For the next 40-plus years, he and his wife faithfully served pastorates in the Kentucky Conference.
Charles loved teaching Sunday School, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. He and his wife Elizabeth's selfless commitment to serving the Lord grew from their desire to give their utmost for His highest. Many have been blessed by His love for the Lord and service to others throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth. Survived by his children Harold, Sabra, Roger, Zoe, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 5-8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea - www.lakesfuneral.com.
Funeral services will be Friday September 23, 11am at Berea United Methodist Church.
The committal service will be in the chapel at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Lexington, at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Berea United Methodist Church Memorial Fund (memo: C. Bertrand-Church Outreach) – 101 Fee St. Berea, Ky. 40403.
