Charles Thomas Ezzell Obituary
Charles Thomas "Tom" Ezzell, 59, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, following a short illness. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Jean Burton Ezzell and Charles Mitchell Ezzell, Tom is survived by his siblings: David B. Ezzell (Lori Ann) of Whitewater, Missouri; Barbara A. Ezzell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and John D. Ezzell (Donna) of East Peoria, Illinois. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces, nephews, aunts and uncle: Matthew (Emma Bryant) Ezzell, Libby Jo (Jacob) Moore, Mark Ezzell, Julie (Justin) Finley, Jack Ezzell, Jeanette Kalman and Betty Sue Gilbert and a host of extended work family and dear friends, including Carol Rogers of Richmond, Kentucky, and M. Lee Jenkins III of Lexington, Kentucky.
A man of remarkable intellect and compassion, Tom was a distinguished attorney and a cherished member of The Getty Law Group, PLLC. He graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown College in 1988, earning both the Dean's Honor Award and the Outstanding Student Leader Award. Tom completed his legal studies at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law in 1992, where he served as Managing Editor of the Kentucky Law Review.
Tom's legal career was marked by his dedication to his clients and colleagues. He published materials for several Continuing Legal Education seminars and lectured on a broad range of subjects related to state and federal litigation, business formation, and non-competition covenants. His contributions to the legal community were invaluable, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was a lover of life. He was an avid musician, and not only enjoyed singing and playing guitar, but also building the instruments. He shared his musical talents at various venues in the Lexington area, bringing joy to all who heard him perform. Tom enjoyed food and travel in Las Vegas, New Orleans and Key West, among other warm destinations. An enthusiastic supporter of the Lexington Sporting Club, Tom rarely missed their soccer matches. He also enjoyed attending University of Kentucky football and basketball events.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 (4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) at The Getty Law Group, PLLC, 100 West Main Street, Suite 200, Lexington, Kentucky 40507. All who knew him are invited to join in honoring his memory.
