I never knew Chase, but I recently met his mother and I just know how much of an impact he had on his family and friends. I wish I could have known him, but I know his story will continue to impact so many.

Well buddy, today would be the first day of 8th grade and your last year of middle school. I'm so proud of you. Help the new kids feel welcome like only you can with your bright smile and silly laugh. And if you feel someone struggling, hold them close and comfort them like only you can now with your kind heart and eternal soul. It was bittersweet taking first day of school pictures without you this morning baby boy. Take one for me wherever you are. I'll see it someday. I love you Chasers.

Today your friends will be done with 7th grade. They will say their goodbyes and another chapter will be over for them. Be their guardian angel. You will not move forward with them and that thought is bittersweet but I know you are happy for them. I can hear your silly laugh and see your sweet dimple and know you are. I love you buddy.

Chase was a great friend to my son Jacob. He misses him so much. They had lockers next to each other and both played the cello. The one thing I know about Chase is how much he was loved and what a great friend he was to everyone he met. Our prayers are with you all.

I have never met or know anyone in this family but was at a visitation at Kerr Bros and was so touched by the show of friends and family for this child. Being a Mom i can't even begin to know what this family is going through, know that this little boy as well as your family is in God's hands through this tragedy.
