So sad to hear this terrible news. Mr Macleod was my Babe Ruth coach when I played on the Trotters at Garden Springs ballpark. He sure taught me a lot about baseball which helped me become a team league All Star back in 1971. How he put up with us I'll never know. The original Bad News Bears. If anyone has any info or photos from my old Trotters team from 1969 thru 1971 please let me know. RIP Coach. Karl Hiten. . [email protected].

To the MacLeod Family,
My heart goes out to you in this time of loss. Ron was a great man who gave many of us opportunities that we would have otherwise not had. I'll never forget the trip through the Northeast with the Dixie team. Ron, thanks for everything... you will be missed.

Mary Nell, Doug, and Rob,
Thinking about Ron the past couple of days, a quote that I once heard kept coming to mind:
"The meaning of a person’s life is measured by the positive impact he has had on the lives of others." This was so true of Ron.

I will always be grateful for the opportunities that he gave me to be a small part of what he did. Twenty years after the first Lexington Dixie Baseball Club teams took the field, I still have fond, vivid memories of new friends made and new places seen (most of them intentional!).
God Bless each of you and your families during this tough time.

Mary Nell and family,
We were so sad to hear Dan tell about Ron's death. We remember so fondly those years with the Giants in the Stonewall league and later in the Southland league. No wonder he had such an influence on Gary and especially on Dan. What a legacy to leave!

Mary Nell and Family - What a doll . . . your Ron! I worked with him at the Blood-Horse in 1973, then followed him on to MacLeod & Associates. Every day included a treasured, and hysterically funny, moment. To this very day, every time I hear the 1972 song "Brandy, You're a Fine Girl", I can see him sauntering into the Blood-Horse Art Dept., taking a drag on his Camel, looking up to the ceiling and saying "Good song, very good song." Funny how you remember such a wonderful person. He will truly be missed.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. As my 13-15yr old coach, he was a great influence for me. Really the first coach that ever "believed" in me and my baseball abilities. He was a very calming influence on this hothead lefty and taught me an "Zito-esque" overhand curve that I still used until I stopped playing over a decade later. I still remember how he taught me...saying I needed to throw it just like I was casting a fishing rod. Never mind the fact that I had never fished in my life...it still worked. Ron really knew how to communicate and connect with people. He was a great coach and will be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to the entire Mac family.

Mary Nell—My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Ron’s kindness, intelligence and keen sense of humor made this world a better place. There was never a dull moment during all of our Blood-Horse and MacLeod and Hopper years. It was a pleasure to go to work every day. He should have written a book about the antics of those days, with his creativity it would have been a best-seller. He will truly be missed by many. My best to you and your family.
