In summer 1977, Dee was a student in a class I taught that summer at the University of Virginia. He was the top student in that class. Ever since that class, Dee and I kept in touch. We always exchanged Christmas cards over the years and occasional letters and notes too. This morning March 12, 2023, I thought of Dee and realized I had not received a Christmas card from him this past Christmas 2022. I googled his name where sadly I found his obituary and that he passed away on December 12, 2022. I am so sorry to learn of Dee´s passing. We often wrote about our desire to someday visit each other. I now am so sorry I never made it the Lexington to visit with Dee and his beloved Adnee, about whom he wrote loving words to me. It has been 46 years since Dee was in my class in 1977. Over these many years, we kept in touch. Dee was a good friend and a good and kind man. He did good and well in the world. He enjoyed his life and lived it well. I will miss hearing from him with his cards and letters. I will miss him as will his family and many friends. Rest in peace my dear friend. You lived a good life and lived it well.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dee´s passing. I had texted him last September telling him of my granddaughter´s enrollment at the University of Kentucky. I know he would have been pleased.

I knew Dee at the Culver Summer School of Horsemanship and was fond of him and his father, Dan, both true gentlemen.

My condolences to his fiancée, Adnée Hamilton, whom I met a few years ago, the last time I saw Dee.

We lost a kind and generous friend. God rest his soul.

Dee was a great friend since college days at the University of Virginia in the Summer of 1977. A loyal friend who stayed in touch with me and my family over the many years. Sending my condolences
to Adnee and the Stewart family.

It was my privilege to teach Dee at KMI (Latin & English). His parents were kind, generous, and supportive of Dee and his educators. Dee was extremely conscientious and dutiful. Serious minded, he was tractable and attentive. Dee would stop by my classroom after classes, and I always enjoyed his company; he was polite and respectful. We, his teachers, teased Dee for prevailing upon his father to obtain an impressive-looking certificate for each of us that inducted us into the fellowship of Kentucky Colonels. Dee believed that a little sugar never hurt and thus making me a Kentucky Colonel just might raise his Latin grade! A young man who was beloved by us all.
