I was lucky enought have Uncle Dave close by during most of my early life. My earliest memories of him are from the late 70's and he was always good to me. I thought the world of this man growing up, but only came to respect him more as I first matured and later entered the education system myself. In my impressionable years Uncle Dave often pulled me aside and gave me advice for life, that often broadened my world view. This was especially true concerning my future education - I only hope that he realized how much his advice influenced my path in life. I really wish that I could have been there for the funeral, but I think he would have appreciated that I had to teach that day. I like to think that he might have even have smiled to know that I still house the bulk of my personal fossil collection in his 30+ year old Ibold cigar boxes. On the day he was burried my upper level college students examined those same fossils, still inside those same boxes Uncle Dave gave me decades ago. A few of them asked about the boxes and I was able to tell them about the great guy who gave them to me. Thank you Uncle Dave for your influence on my life - you made a difference!

Uncle David was a very special and kind man. He was always so good to our kids. Since his brother John Paul passed away he stepped up and became a grandfather figure for my kids. David was a blessing to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Praying for comfort and peace for the family.
