David Hornback Obituary
June 20, 1944 - May 14, 2024
Brownsburg, Indiana - David (Dave) Lee Hornback left us on May 14th, 2024. David spent years in law enforcement and was proud of his service to the community. However, his snooker and cribbage skills are legendary. He loved golf, seasoned bourbon, fast horses (although he usually bet on the slow ones) poker, and football. Dave served in the army reserves for 6 years, honorably discharged. He continued his career with the Lexington Police Department, Florida Parole, and Keeneland Racetrack where he finally retired to enjoy family and warrior Sudoku.
Dave's conversations were peppered with wit and humor. Nothing pleased him more than a little banter with his buddies. Left to tread Dave's memory are Judith Kaye, his loving, tolerant wife of 55 years, his beautiful, blended family, daughters Shannon Vance, Robin Fleischer (Danny), sister Beth Hatchell, brother Mike Hornback. Dave was predeceased by his youngest daughter Susan. In the Hornback loop are grandchildren, Zachary, Lindsey, Josh, Lauren, and Sarah, Susan's daughter, whom David adopted when she was nine. Known to his family as Pa, he relished the role.
Kentucky was always home. Today, raise your glass (whether bourbon or milk) to a fine man who will be greatly missed.
