It has been a year now since we all lost our beloved Dennis. And though the sun still comes up everyday and the stars come out every night, neither one shines quite as bright as they did when we had him here to share them with us.
We all love and miss you.

Dear Linda and Amy, I was so sad to hear about your Husband/Father passing. My memories of him were few. He was so kind, generous and fun when I visited Louisville and The Art Beat Gallery. He went out of his way to make me feel very welcomed in Louisville. I remember his love for his family and how proud he was of them. Linda and Amy, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I wish you peace and happiness.

Dearest Linda,
I only found out tonight about Dennie's passing. I am so sorry. I thought about you guys a million times and kept him in my prayers since the day I found out he was sick. You and him are the nicest people I have ever met. For the last 20 years, whenever I seen you guys,it was a pleasure just watching you. You all shared a love like I've never seen before. Dennie was such a nice and sincere person and just a pleasure to know. Linda I am so sorry. I can not imagine how things must be for you, but please know that Dennie will always watch over you!
I hope to see you again very soon. I care about you very much and wish you the very best. Please accept my condolences and know that I will pray for you and Dennie.

I just learned this very moment about Denny's passing. I just want to express my sincerest sorrow to you and your family. I worked with Dennie for a little over 4 years. When I was baptized at SECC in December 2007 I shared my experience with him. He gave me the biggest hug and a kiss on the forehead and his eyes welled up with tears. He was so proud of me and welcomed me into his Christian family. He will truly be missed.

Linda, Ray, Lauren, John and family,

I was very fortuante to know Denny while we were both at UK. He was funny, silly, charming, and a great person to spend time with. I first met him when I was a senior in high school, and he was a Freshman at UK. I was introduced to him by my brother-in-law, David Gash. As it turns out, on a hunting trip David accidentally shot Denny in the eye with a bee bee gun. Denny was never angry, never blamed David, and graciously accepted that he couldn't play ball anymore without risking his vision. He was a kind, generous, nice person. We lost contact after we both moved in different directions in our lives, but as I read these tributes to him, I see that he only got better with age. I am very saddened by the news of his passing and know that he will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Linda, please accept my sympathy and know that I will be thinking of you. Never have I seen a more handsome man with a more beautiful woman.

My Beautiful new Aunt and my Prettiest new cousin,
I never met my new uncle Denny,But had heard alot of stories from my new father in law Ray(BIG POPPS) and my new uncle John Schrecker.
Being from Tennessee then moving to Charleston a few years back i met my new wife Elizabeth.
After becoming a member of the family i knew i had to come to my newest uncle's funeral.I knew i wouldn't cry or be upset,How could I?I'd never met him.I was wrong.
When you come into House of GOD,And see hundreds of people lined up to pay respects to the Man you never met it says many things.
My uncle was a Man of Respect, My uncle was a man of of Honor, My uncle was a man of his family, And most of all a man of GOD.
To my Uncle i never met Shannon Cole.
p.s. I left wearing a new Kentucky hat ,proud of my uncle and my father in law.

Aunt Linda and Amy,
Anyone that had the privilage of knowing my Uncle Dennie was a lucky person. I loved him very much and still can't believe that he is not here on this earth with us now. What a celebration everyone in heaven must be having, I mean how could they not. I wish I could come up with something to make the pain go away, just know that I am here for you two if you need me, and that there is no way possible that anyone could ever forget Dennie Schrecker. He made an everlasting impression on everyone that he met.
There is always a place in Charleston for ya'll, where the stories remain fresh in our memories to pass down to our kids. Love you very much.

This is another example of the wonderful kind of guy Dennie was. My son reminded me that when Dennie moved in behind us in Douglass Hills about 30 years ago, HE came over and knocked on OUR door saying, "Hello, I am Dennie Schrecker and I am your new neighbor". Loved him.

Dear Linda and Amy,
I know you are aware of what an inspirational, loving, and guiding human being Dennie was to you. Dennie also inspired, loved and guided many of us who had the wonderful opportunity of crossing his path. I will never forget and will always be thankful for the life and career changing advice he gave to me. Always encouraging and so appreciative of the simplest of tasks that were done for him. The laughter and funny times that were shared will always be a wonderful memory. He was a true Christian, loving everyone, and attempting to take care of those who chose not to care for themselves or their own. Dennie was genuine and kind. What a loss for this world and what a gain for heaven!

Dear Mrs. Schrecker Amy and family:
Today Wednesday May 14th I just found out that Mr Schrecker passed away Saturday night. I am truly going to miss him because he was very kind to me and he represented God in a big way. Please feel free to call me as a fellow christian friend if you need anything. I wrote a peom in honoring Mr Schrecker I hope you will like it.
The name of the poem is
My Christian Friend

May 14th 2008
I found out just today.
That my fellow chrisitan friend had just passed away.
It floored me for a loop.
And not only that it put me in a stoop.
I knew it would eventually come to be.
But I refuse to see.
I was hoping for a miracle cure.
But deep inside I knew the end would have to endure.
I never got to say goodbye.
Instead I stuck my head in a closet to hide.
Time slips away before your very eyes.
Sometimes I feel like I could cry.
But I would like to say what is on my mind.
So Mr. Schrecker's family can have some peace of mind.
Denny was a Godly man.
AGAPE love to all that he possibly can. He was always kind and listen to what I had to say.
I know that I will see him and so will you in HEAVEN someday.
I bet he is in Heaven right now playing golf with God.
Jesus is also beside him and saying your doing a good job.
Playing golf with God and Jesus is his no.1 deal.
But Jesus will more than likely beat him in his game for real.
Denny we will miss you but we won't say goodbye.
We will just say goodnight my friend and try not to cry.

Linda and Amy,
I just wanted you to know that I admire your family so much. Dennie was such a loving, giving soul. He put so much pride into everything he did. I will always remember how much joy he brought me during my last pregnancy that Amy and I shared. He was so tickled that the babies were born a day apart. He often told me to make sure Brendan played football because Evie could only date a handsome, intelligent, star athelete. =) Working with him was a pleasure and I learned a good deal about putting your heart into everything you do.
With deepest sympathy.

Schrecker Family

I offer my condolences and prayers.
Yes, I remember Denny at LMHS. I especially remember him when we bumped into one another on the opening kick off in our first football game against, I believe Eastern High
School Eagles. I said, "Schrecker watch out." He almost kill me. Then, I remember him inviting me to a party over "by" were he lived. But, it was down the street, from the Yellow Cab Co. I never could find the address. I was walking. Denny your sense of directions is awful, I said to myself. This was after a game, I believe it was Southern High School. Then, I remember we use to see each other up the YMCA in the 555 Club. He,I and my brother, Jim, would laugh and cut up and tell each other lies.
And lastly, he invited me over at his house in St. Regis Neighbor when he first came home from UK and I met his beautiful wife. Pat, he said, "you are always invited." God Bless YOU Denny. I can't help but remembering you. I love you friend.

I will miss him much. Denny was a real inspiration to me in the way he conducted himself in life.He was a loving Uncle to me & all his nephews & nieces.A loyal brother to my father Bernie,Uncle's Ray & John & Aunt Lauren
He was a hard worker ,a devoted husband & a loving father. He set a great example of what family should be.I never knew anyone that
consider themselves a stranger to Denny after just meeting him once. He was warm & engaging & shared his friendly spirit with all
he came in contact with in life.Denny's charm captivated everyone. The world has lost a good soul.

Mrs. Schrecker, Amy and family.

I am not sure if you all will remember me; however, my family (The Brent's) went to St. Marks. My Mom (JoAnn) told me that she had see all of you in Bonita Springs at Church earlier this year and how graceious Mr. Schrecker was to her, how wonderful it was to see you all. She told me that Mr. Schrecker was ill and then today when she called me, I was so saddened by his passing. I remember when we were much younger how much I loved coming to chruch to see Mr. Schrecker and Andy.

Mr. Schrecker was a kind, special and loving man. Although I have not seen your family in many many years I remember Mr. Schrecker's smile and happy eyes. Please accept my sympothy and know that my prayers are with you at such a difficult time.

Dear Schrecker Family;
I cannot find words to express to you my deep sympathy for your loss. Dennie and I went to school at Male High together and worked on so many events connected to that school. Dennie was always so ready with that broad smile and made you feel like a member of his family. Linda, Dennie loved you so much! Every woman should be loved like that. God bless you and your family until you are united again in Heaven.

I got to know Dennie through golf at Hurstbourne C.C. He was a very kind and gentle man and I was privileged to have known him. I live art the entrance to Hurstbourne C.C. and if Dennie saw me in the yard and wanted to discuss whatever was on his mind, he would park his vehicle and we would chat. I heard several stories about Charlie Bradshaw and his "Thin Thirty " team and about his eye injury that cut short his playing days. It always was a pleasure to talk to him. My prayers are with you, his family.

I will always remember Dennie for unconditionally loving my family and going beyond the call of duty as a friend to help us out with our dad when he was alive. Many times we had to "call Dennie to the rescue" and he was always there no matter what the circumstances. Words can not express how much it meant to me to know how much Dennie cared about my family. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Dennie was a good man- dear, compassionate and kind. He was the kind of friend to my father that you can only have once in a lifetime. Friendships like those are deep rooted and grown with love and time. His life was an inspiration, he was a person that we could all aspire to be like. My heart is heavy that he is not here anymore, but I know we will all meet again one day and I am comforted by that. This picture was taken in March on our visit to Kentucky. I am so grateful we had the chance to spend such a quiet, personal couple of hours with Dennie and Linda. We love them and always will.

Linda, I want you to know that Denny and I talked about 6 weeks ago on the phone. I reminded him that it was because of his insistence and persuasion that I reluctantly went to the Men's Friday morning Bible study at Burger King. Because of his gentle leading, I soon came to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. We rejoiced together, and, cried together on the phone, as we remembered the unique role Denny played as God used him in my life. This sinner will be eternally grateful to Denny for leading me to salvation. I look forward to hugging him in Heaven to thank him again. I've told many people about Denny Schrecker, how God used him, and, will tell many more. His example always encourages others to be bold for The Lord, like he was. Linda, Connie and I are praying for your comfort and peace. We know Denny is happy and well, but, it is also a time of sadness and loss for you and your family. We rejoice with you knowing Denny is with Jesus!

I'm so sorry to hear of Denny's passing. He was a good man and Godly man. I knew him from when he refereed my high school FB games and later me from me being a player at UK. I read "The Thin Thirty" about 4 mos. ago and it prompted me to write Denny a letter trying to reconnect. It was after I wrote it that I learned of his illness.

My prayers are with the Schrecker family and hope that you are comforted knowing Denney is with our Lord.
