Dora Katherine "Dodie" Thomas

WILMORE - Dora Katherine "Dodie" Thomas died Sep 24, 2011 at her home on Lowry Lane. A native of Jessamine County she was born on Jan 25, 1928 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Elda Ruth Rhorer. She was preceded in death by her sisters; Opal Mae Rhorer and Betty Margaret Johnson and brothers; Robert Brown and Thomas Byron Rhorer. She is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, James E. Thomas, three daughters; Margaret Louise Curtsinger, husband Robert, Wilmore, Sandra Ruth Wilkinson and Angie Beall Simpson both of Georgetown, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Dora attended elementary school at Bethel School where she was in the last graduating class, was a 1945 graduate of Wilmore High School, and a graduate of Crump Business College. She was a member of the Wilmore United Methodist Church, was past president of the VFW, past Regent of the DAR, a charter member of the Wilmore Woman's Club, AARP, Historical Society, the Cameo Club, a Kentucky Colonel, and bookkeeper for Sims Drug for ten years. Services will be 10am Tue, Sep 27, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, with visitation from 9am until time of service. She will be laid to rest in Wilmore Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers are Jimmy Beckett, Jesse Kelsey, Joe Wilkinson, Scott Tillery, Kasey Varney, and James Rhorer. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Mon Sep 26th, 5-8pm.
