Dorothy Collier Obituary

NICHOLASVILLE - Dorothy Alice Walker Wade Collier, 84, Locust Heights died Sun., May 23, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County she was born on Jan. 9, 1920 to the late John and Vina Dean Walker. She was the widow of William Harrison Wade who died in 1977 and William Paul Collier who died in 1991. She had been an employee of Canada Dry Distillery and Hemphill Pharmacy, a member of Sulphur Well Christian Church, the Jessamine Cancer Buddies in which she was the longest living cancer survivor, a participant in the Jessamine Relay for Life, this being the first year she was unable to participate, a volunteer at Thomson Hood Veterans Center, a volunteer and member of the Jessamine Senior Citizens, member of the Jessamine County Garden Club, and assisted in the Floriculture at the Jessamine County Fair, member of the Jessamine Senior Citizens Homemakers Club, a successful senior bowler having won many trophies, past Matron of the Eastern Star Jessamine County Chapter, and a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Survivors include her son Gerald Wade and wife Barbara H., two granddaughters Tammie W. Jones and husband Jerry and Melanie W. Lancaster, great grandchildren Paige Renee Morton and Jason Wade Morton all of Nicholasville, two sisters Ann Corman and husband Frank, and Helen Burch & husband Clellie, both of Nicholasville, a brother Johnny Walker and wife Doris, Nicholasville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held Thurs. May 27, at 11 pm at the Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home on Oak St. with Rev. Dale Sanders , Rev. Bruce Heller and Rev. Dan Barnes officiating with burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Danny Bruner, Jimmy Estes, Don Rex Wade, Merrell Teater, Jimmy Bowman, & John V. Carpenter, Jr. Visitation will be on Wed., May 26 from 3-9 pm. Eastern Star Services will be held Wed. at 8 pm at the funeral home.
