Earl Gregory Obituary

Earl F. Gregory, 79, retired Lexington businessman and husband of Mildred Cinnamon Gregory, passed away at his home in Paris, Ky. on Saturday, September 6th after an extended illness. He was born January 20, 1924 in Kirksville in Madison County, Ky. He was one of eleven children born to the late Tom and Pearl Gregory. During World War II he served in Europe as a Staff Sergeant medic with the 406th Fighter Squadron, 371st Fighter Group, U. S. Army Air Corps. Prior to his military service he attended old Lexington Henry Clay High School. In 1951 he established Keystone Window Sales, Inc. in Lexington, and was its owner and operator until 1976. He also farmed in Fayette and Bourbon counties. He was a member of the Aetna Hawks, a Lexington based semi-pro baseball club that many local sportsman of his generation will recall. He was a member and former president of the East Lexington Optimist Club, served in Big Brothers, and for several years collected donations of Christmas gifts for Appalachian children from local merchants. He was active in several Lexington area contractor and sales professional organizations during his business career. Angling was his leisure time passion. Family and friends will fondly remember time spent on the water and elsewhere with him. Survivors include his wife Mildred; two children; Glynn (Marie) Gregory, Paris; Lisa (Michael) Hearn, Paris; four grandchildren, Brad Gregory, Paris, Melissa (David) Rue, Portland, Oregon, Erin Gregory, Lexington, and Koby Hearn, Paris; two step grandchildren; Heath Hearn, Jackson, TN, and chad Hearn, Jackson, TN; eight brothers and sisters also survive him. These include, Frances Doty (widow of Ed), Paris, Bill (Phyllis) Gregory, Georgetown, Pauline Perkins, (widow of Herman), Bloomington, IN, Jesse (Volita) Gregory, Frankfort, Bob (Evelyn) Gregory, Georgetown and Ann Nutter, (widow of Howard), Lexington, Sonny (Brenda) Gregory, Lexington, Gene (Joyce) Gregory, Lexington; several nieces and nephews also survive him. Funeral services will be Monday, September 8, 2003 at 12:00 noon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Road. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Buddy Barber, Jerry Cinnamon, Brad Gregory, Kevin Gregory, Koby Hearn and Mark Nutter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Barber, John Barber, Bob Gregg, Audney Hall, and Frank Rankin Smith. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40504. Guest book at Legacy.com.
