Harry Sloane Obituary

Harry James (Jim) Sloane, 88, of Lexington, KY passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2025. Jim was born May 27, 1937, in Knott County, KY, the son of Rose Perkins Sloane and Harry Pratt Sloane. He graduated from Model High School in Richmond, KY and attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY for two years. Jim was in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1961-1962, followed by four years of service as a Private in the U.S. Army Reserve. Jim married Pattye Sue Kelley on August 28, 1960, at Lafayette Christian Church in Lexington, KY. Soon afterward they moved to Madison, WI where he became an entrepreneur in the drycleaning business and moved back to Lexington to open Romany Road Cleaners, which he owned and operated for 46 years, as well as additional laundry businesses. Jim was also a successful real estate investor and proprietor in Lexington. Jim was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Pattye Sue Kelley Sloane, his sister Anne Sloane Foster, and his parents Rose Perkins Sloane and Harry Pratt Sloane. He is survived by his three daughters, Kelley Sloane (Sue), Shannon Sanders, and Susan Sloane (Jason); four grandchildren, Hannah Newsome, Emma Sanders, Chas Lundy and Mia Lundy, and two great grandchildren, Maren Newsome and Ivory Sloane Coulter. Jim will be buried with his wife at the Lexington Cemetery at a private family service. Memorial donations in Jim's memory may be directed to Bluegrass Care Navigators in Lexington, KY (bgcarenav.org/give). Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road is in charge of the arrangements.
