Herbert Dawahare Obituary

DAWAHARE, Herbert Hoover, 75, Lexington, husband of Dorothy Dawahare, died Tues., Mar. 16, 2004 at his residence. Born in Neon, KY, he was the son of the late Serur Frank and Selma Cury Dawahare. Mr. Dawahare served thirteen years in the Kentucky State House of Representatives, was a member of the Board of Directors of First Security Bank in Whitesburg, KY, and was a partner in Dawahares, Inc. where he also served on the Board of Directors. He founded Hoover's Furniture and operated the business for the past thirty years. Mr. Dawahare was a member of the Old Paris Road Church of God. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Ernest Wade Dawahare, Lexington; four brothers, Oscar Dee Dawahare, Serur Frank Dawahare, Jr., Martin Dawahare, and A.F. Dawahare, all of Lexington; two sisters, Mary Dawhare, Hazard, and Sybil Ajalat, Ormond Beach, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Dawahare, three brothers, Willie Dawahare, Woodrow Dawahare and Harding Dawahare, and one sister, Nellie Kawaja. Funeral services will be 2 pm Thurs. at the Old Paris Road Church of God by Pastor Jack E. Whitaker, Rev. Whit Criswell, Rev. Wayne Smith, and Rev. Thomas Gallaway with burial to follow in Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Lunsford, Jackie Crawford, Todd Crawford, Greg Couch, Tim Couch, and Joe B. Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Hoover's brothers and nephews. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Wed. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road and from 1 pm until the time of the service Thurs. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Old Paris Road Church of God, 1859 Old Paris Road, Lexington, KY 40505. Guestbook at Legacy.com

I only met Hoover very few times, but I could tell he was a kind man. My heart goes out to the Dawahare family, I know this must be especially hard on Martin, A.F., Frank and Dee after losing Sadie not to long ago. The family is in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your lost. My mother, Ann E. Carty, taught William and Frank and I attended Pikevill High School with them. The Dawahare Family has always been presence in Pikeville and Lexington and I feel honored to have known the family. The family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
