Jim and I have been friends since I was 16 and he was 17 yrs. of age. We attended Berea College together and were roommates in medical school until he and Jan were married. He claimed that she could cook better than me. I value all the memories and the friendship and feel like I have lost a brother.

I had the opportunity to spend time with Dr. Crase when his dear wife, Jan, served on the Berea College Board of Trustees. He was a delightful person, and I enjoyed many spirited conversations with this wonderful couple. I extend my condolences and prayers to Dr. Crase's family and friends.

I started working with Jim and Jan on a project in the 90's and soon they became great friends. He was a mentor to so many and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to members of his family. I have heard so many great stories about each of you. He was so proud of you and your accomplishments.

If I lived one-hundredth of the way he did -- with an endless joy and curiousity, fueled by passion, but balanced with compassion, empathy, and above all, an irresistible sense of humor to keep it all in perspective -- then I will feel like I got it right. The measure of who he is lives on in the fierce love and pride he held for his wife and children and their children. I consider myself blessed to have known him. Jan and God get him back now. Love and prayers to Kim, Joe, Karl, Melissa, Kit and their families

Dr.Crase was the doctor who checked my daughter when she was born some 23 yrs ago at lake Cumberland hospital. Jim and Jan Crase each contributed so much to our community and throughout the state in a joyful way and brought excellence to all their endeavors. They simply loved life and people and were fiercely proud of their children. If only our communities had more citizens like them. We send our sympathy to each and every family member.

When our mother was felled by a series of strokes I will never forget the sight of Dr. Crase standing at her bedside holding her hand. He had to tell us that she would never recover. As he spoke those words, tears rolled down his cheeks.
I had never seen the emotional side of a physician. His humanity was part of what made him a great doctor.
May you find peace in your memories of him and may your heart hold those memories close.
