James Nunley Obituary

NUNLEY James S., 77, of Lexington, KY, died June 5, 2015. He was born June 30, 1937 in Louisville, KY, to the late Robert Lawrence and Fannie (Horne) Nunley. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, and daughters, Diana Crawford and Rebecca (Gary) Masel, and "grandkids" Alexandra and Spencer Masel. Six-year-old Spencer said "Grandad was taken by God to Heaven because something must be broken in heaven that Grandad needed to fix for him!" He was preceded in death by siblings, June Connell and Robert Nunley. Jim was a member of the Lafayette High School class of '56, retired following 30 years of service with the FAA, after serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve and U.S. Air Force in the 60th Fighter Intercepter Squadron. He was a Master Mason and active member of Lexington Lodge #1, a former member of Devotion Lodge #160, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Visitation Monday, June 15, 2015, 11:30am to 1:30pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. Lexington Lodge #1 will conduct a Masonic service at 1:30pm with burial service following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lexington Lodge #1, P.O. Jim was one of a kind. I am so proud to have been a part of his life. He gave and gave to others and always appreciated what we did for him. He has a special place in my old aging heart. God bless him.

Jim was an inspiration to so many. His love of life and kindness to all others was amazing. He was always an example of life at its finest. I enjoyed sharing a part of his life. I never envisioned death as a part of his being here with all of us he inspired by his example.
