Janet Jones Obituary
February 9, 1947 - April 12, 2021
Lexington, Kentucky - Janet Peat Jones, 74, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 12, 2021. She was the eldest daughter of the late Alexander Cranston Peat, M.D. and Lucille McElheney Peat, RN. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Kentucky on May 12, 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Janet will be remembered for her love of gardening and reading, the Hawaiian Islands where she often traveled, but her true passion was her love for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Christopher William Drake Jones, Esq. and spouse Meredith Lyster Jones and their children, Robert Drake Jones, William Howell Jones, and Fielding McAllister Jones; her daughter, Jamie Jones Culbreth, LPC and spouse Rickard Lamar Culbreth, Jr. and their children, Catherine Rose Culbreth and Thomas Lawton Culbreth; her sister, Barbara Peat Hershberger and spouse Duane Eugene Hershberger, her brother Kenneth William Peat, M.D. and spouse Janet Christian Peat, and her brother James Cranston Peat; her former husband, Jack Goble Jones, Jr.; her six nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public visitation or memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Janet was a very long time client of mine. I did her hair for probably close to 15 years. She was a joy. She was always smiling and always saw the positive in everything. I’m going to miss her. I looked forward to every appointment she had with me. My condolences to the family.

Janet was our nextdoor neighbor and no one could ask for a better one. If we ever needed her help with anything she was always available. She had a kind and gentle spirit. We were fortunate to have her as a neighbor and to count her as a friend. We will miss her. We extend our condolences to her loving family. My the Lord bless you and keep you, especially at this time.
