Lexington, Kentucky - Jeannine Petit Essig, 88, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in her hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. Born on January 9, 1937, to the late George Sehorn Petit and Rosie Petit Thomas, Jeannine's life was a testament to her enduring warmth and the deep connections she fostered with everyone she met.
Jeannine's journey through life was marked by her loving marriage to the late Dr. Carl Fohl Essig. Together, they shared a life full of joy and companionship until his passing. She was a devoted mother to her late daughter, Kitty Gail Marshall, and her surviving son, Kerry Lyle Tate of Atlanta, GA. Her love extended to her stepdaughters, Loris (Gary) Sherman of Somerset, KY, Judith (Jerry) Jackson of Noblesville, IN, and Ellen (Larry) Wallberg of Lexington, KY. Jeannine's legacy continues through her cherished granddaughter, Katrina Dailey of Lexington, KY, her two grandsons, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Professionally, Jeannine was a respected cartographer for Rand McNally.
Those who knew Jeannine will remember her as sweet and compassionate. She had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and heard, leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and community.

A graveside service for Jeannine will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 2nd at Lexington Cemetery. Guests are asked to arrive at the cemetery between 10:30 am and 10:45 am where staff will direct them to stage around Section A. Procession will begin at 11:00 am for the service.
