Jimmie L. Johnson

1938 - 2016

JOHNSON Jimmie Logan, 78, passed away Mon, May 30, 2016. Born in Lexington on Jan 2, 1938, he was a son of the late William and Reva Johnson. He was a founding member of Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, and retired from IBM after 37 years of service; as well as retired from the USMC Reserves in 1963. He drove a school bus for ten years, was a judo instructor, a Boy Scout Leader; a camp counselor for the Presbytery and Presbyterian Church Camp, and was a Range Master for Bluegrass Sportsmen's Club. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Judy Carol Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Nora Elizabeth Johnson; his sons, William Austin Johnson, Michael Nathan Johnson (Lisa), David Patrick Johnson (Kim) and Matthew Warren (Lynn); his daughter, Joyce Mae Norris; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his brother, Johnny Morgan Johnson; and his sister, Joyce Ann Johnson. Funeral service will be 2pm Friday at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday at Kerr Bros. - Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in his memory.
