June Wash Obituary

June Wash

June 24, 1934 - June 5, 2025

Cincinnati, Ohio - June Elizabeth Williams-Wash passed peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati on June 5, 2025. She was preceded in death, four years to the exact date, June 5, 2021, by her husband James (Jim) who passed at the same location. Coincidence or maybe Devine Intervention? June believed in going home to our Lord.

June enjoyed a banking career, as a teller for over 40 years in Lexington, Kentucky. She retired three times, bowing out at 86 years old and moved to a retirement community in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, Jim.

She relished in the relationships she formed with co-workers and customers. Whilst working as a teller, she obtained her real estate license, became a certified massage therapist, and opened a booth for "household overflow" with her best friend, Gloria. June thrived on learning and new adventures.

She never missed a special event in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She meticulously crafted and sent a card out of fabric, relating to the events and special days of those she loved. June was always rooting for the underdog, and it showed through the support and help she gave so many over the years. She lived her life, no matter what she endured, with her glass half full! A true angel on earth.

She rode Tennessee Walking Horses in her teens, took care of her siblings, read avidly, watched movies, travelled quite a bit, and visited frequently with friends and family.

She worked at a telephone company, before marrying the father of her 4 children, Joseph A. Abisch (1934-2024). Her "last hoorah on horseback" was when she was 88 years old where she rode Josie, a black and white gaited horse belonging to her daughter.

She asked if she too, "would have a Birthday Celebration," as her belated husband had his service and memorial on his 96th birthday in 2021. The answer is, "Yes, we will now celebrate June's 91st birthday on June 24, 2025."

June is survived by her children Susan Abisch-Tobin (Bob), Steven Abisch, Elizabeth Abisch-McLaughlin (Kenny), Karen Abisch-Hazenfield (Joey), James Lauchlan Wash, Meriwether Wash-Hall (Kevin), eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and her sisters Rita Williams-Lonas (Randy) and Freddie Anne Williams-Bettis and their families.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Taylor-Williams and Harold C. Williams, Sr., her brother, Harold (Bubba) Williams Jr. (Patricia), and her sister, Nita Williams-Wilson.

A reception will be held Tue June 24, 2025 at Milward - Man O' War 1509 Trent Blvd. Lexington, KY 40515 from 5-6 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6pm. www.milwardfuneral.com
