Kearney Ford Obituary

Kearney John Ford

August 25, 1986 – March 20, 2025

Kearney John Ford, son of Maureen Carey Ford and Jeffrey Allen Ford, died on March 20, 2025. His was a strong, sweet, sensitive soul that cared most about others.

Kearney loved the outdoors. At the age of 18 months, he chose his family's new home in Oldham County by refusing to get back into his car seat after seeing its backyard. He spent his youth playing catch, fishing, sledding, hunting for geodes, and digging in the creek for ""dinosaur teeth."" He was great at golf and baseball and followed both sports closely. According to his father, deep down Kearney was a Cleveland Indians fan who occasionally dressed up as a White Sox fan.

Kearney was a National Merit Scholar at Oldham County High School. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, Kearney went to work at Alliance Resource Partners in Lexington. He served there for more than 15 years and was Director of Property Administration.

Hard-working and deeply intelligent, Kearney always kept a youthful spirit, even as he approached his 40th year of life. He was a fan of all things Star Wars and Batman, naming his sidekick - a rescued pug - Robin.

The sense of humor that sustained Kearney and his family might be missed the most. He went fishing on Lake Reba two days before his last, joking that he caught ""a glove, a lil' sunburn, and serenity.""

Kearney is survived by his father Jeff, mother Maureen, brothers Freddy and James, stepmother Terry, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins he cherished.

The Ford family invites you to remember Kearney on Wednesday, March 26, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 West Jefferson Street, LaGrange, Kentucky. A visitation will be held from 11am-1pm, followed by a memorial service at 1pm. Kearney will be laid to rest near family in a private ceremony at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in Kearney's honor to North Oldham Little League, P.O. Box 713, LaGrange, Kentucky 40031.

Kearney was such an intelligent, kind, friendly person who was generous with his time and always glad to help any of his neighbors. He was very thoughtful too. I remember when he dug up some of his hostas that were a different variety from mine and brought them over and planted them for me. He was always there when needed and did acts of kindness from small to large, including the time that he assisted me when I fell and had a compound fracture of my arm. He truly rescued me that evening.
He brought so much to our neighborhood, everyone who knew him liked him right away, and enjoyed chatting with him, whether it was at the mailbox, or doing projects at the clubhouse, or in earlier times when he was walking his sweet little dog. I was very fond of Kearney and will certainly miss him. He was a good man. My thoughts and prayers with his family in this time of sadness.

Kearney was the definition of a great neighbor. He often sensed a need and came forward to ask how he could help. I served on our board
of directors in Quail Run with him; he was more than willing to do whatever was needed
to help maintain our community - and always with a smile!! He was greatly appreciated and will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I served on the HOA board with Kearney and always appreciated his insight and help. He was always willing to step up and help with a smile not only with HOA issues but neighbors. It is a great loss, and his smile will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. I can picture him walking Robin again.

Absolutely no reply is necessary. We're just overcome with sorrow. With all that you're dealing with Jeff, there are no words. You and Terry are strong people. You will survive. And while the pain is deep and will last quite a while, soon, I hope, only the good memories will survive. We love you. Bless you.

Oh Kearney Ford, you will be missed on this earth. You were funny and smart and a great guy. I will cherish all our conversations and I´ll never forget that smile and sarcastic humor you had.
To your family, Kearney had some struggles but that´s not what I´ll remember. You had a great brother and son and I am happy that our paths crossed on earth. Rest peacefully now Kearney Ford. Love you always, your friend- nurse Kim
