Lexington , Kentucky - LaRae Lynn Reedy died November 13, 2022, at the Chandler Medical Center, from respiratory issues and associated impact of long-term Parkinson's. Born in Urbana, IL, November 2, 1961, she was the eldest daughter of Daniel R. and Nancy A. Reedy. Her transition came peacefully with her two sisters and other family members at her side. A Lexington resident since 1967, she was a member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Lexington.
Mourning her passage are her parents, sisters Lisa Reedy Loeffler (Lexington) and Lucinda "Cindy" Reedy Hall (Nashville); brothers-in-law, Andrew Loeffler and Timothy Hall; beloved nieces and nephews, Madeleine and Emma Loeffler, Daniel, Hadley, and Henry Hall; step-son David Rader, Sarah, and son Hawk; cousins Linda Poorman, Brook Meiller, and Sallie Compton; special friends Ana Maria and the Mariategui Family in Lima, Peru, Barbara Wilson, Rosie Gray, Mark Mitchell, Kristen Young and many more.
LaRae graduated from Henry Clay H.S. and received the B.A. in Spanish and Commerce from the University of Kentucky. After residing a year in Lima, Peru, she returned to Lexington and was employed variously by the Hyatt Regency, State Farm, Shuey and Struss Dental, and the UK College of Dentistry.
Diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's some thirty years before her death, LaRae was assiduous in investigating symptoms, theories of cause, and potential treatments of the disease. Because of its debilitating impact, her health issues became more varied and complex over time. She faced those issues with a quiet determination. Fortunately, her sharp intellect remained intact.
LaRae will long be remembered for her affectionate nature. Her compassion and love for others were qualities recognized by those who knew her. In her interactions, she never saw differences in humankind. She was generous to those in need, often beyond her capacity or their expectation.
Her family is particularly praising of the love and care from Northpoint Healthcare Center along with the doctors, nurses, and staff who attended LaRae during her hospitalization at UK. Their compassion and professionalism were noteworthy. They also appreciate the attention and advice offered on multiple occasions by family member, Dr. Hugh Loeffler.
