Leonard E. Wilson 1915-2007
Retired circuit judge, legislator

Leonard E. Wilson of Jamestown, a retired circuit court judge and member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, died Thursday. He was 92.

Mr. Wilson was born in Jabez in Russell County. He served his county throughout his professional and political career. Mr. Wilson also served as Russell County attorney.

"He was just a good fit, very helpful to people," said Jack Miller, a former district court judge for Russell, Wayne and Clinton counties who knew Mr. Wilson.

"He was a good fella. A good lawyer," Miller said. "Everybody liked Leonard."

Mr. Wilson was also a captain and company commander during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Wilson; a son, William W. Wilson; a stepson, Ross Keamer; a brother, William Lawrence Wilson; a sister, Olive Stephens; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Defern Stephens Wilson; a son, Robert Leonard Wilson; three brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today and until 1 p.m. Monday at the Jamestown United Methodist Church in Jamestown. Services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at the church. Gifts of remembrance can be made to the Leonard E. Wilson Memorial Fund, Jamestown United Methodist Church or a charity.
