Leslie Key Obituary

Leslie "Les" Paul Key, 89 years of age, husband of Edna Gillispie Key for over 42 years, died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Pine Meadows Health Care in Lexington. He was born July 4, 1913 in Leitchfield, KY, and grew up in Louisville, KY. He was manager of the Lexington branch of Office Equipment Company and Vice President of the company for 57 years until his retirement in 1985. He worked part-time at Keeneland Race Course until April 2002. He was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King, a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, and coached the Redlegs Baseball Team at Eastern Little League for 28 years. He was a charter member of the Lexington Exchange Club for 50 years, a lifetime director and past president of the Lexington Area Bowling Association, a Hall of Fame member, and an avid golfer. Besides his wife, Edna, he is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Paul (Frank) Wade-Williams, Sadieville, KY, Leslie Ann (Ray) Wise, Lexington, and Carla Lee (Edwin) Isaacs, Lawrenceburg; two sons, James Edward Key and Paul Ray (Julie) Key, both of Lexington; one granddaughter, Jacy Lynn Isaacs, Lawrenceburg; three grandsons, Robert Leslie Wise, James Patrick Key and Taylor Ray Key, all of Lexington; and his faithful Boston Terrier companion, Peanut. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Jane Davis Key, and his three brothers, Thomas, Clarence and William. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. by the Rev. Roger Feeback. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Bradley, John Shouse, Carl Walden, Gerald Leslie, Jeff Kessler and Ken Emmerich Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lexington Area Bowling Association and his co-workers at Keeneland Race Course. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
