Luther Johnson Obituary
JOHNSON, Dr. Luther Q., 58, Panama City, FL, completed his journey through this life and went to live with his Eternal Savior on Mon., May 31, 2004. Dr. Johnson passed away at home surrounded by his family. Dr. Johnson was born on Nov. 7, 1945 in Estill County, KY. He was a loving husband, father, retired pastor, grandfather, and friend. Dr. Johnson was a graduate of Clark College, Newton, MS., Clarksville School of Theology, Clarksville, TN, Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, FL, and Trinity Seminary in Newberg, IN. He pastored First Baptist Church of Callaway for fourteen years, as well as six other Southern Baptist churches in five other states. He devoted his life to ministering to others through preaching, teaching, encouraging and spreading the Gospel to various parts of the world. Dr. Johnson was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and member of the Bay Dunes Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana Johnson of Panama City; a son, Kevin W. Johnson of Birmingham, AL; a daughter, Kimberly Greer of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Joni Hampton Johnson; a son-in-law, Richard Greer; three granddaughters: Megan Greer, Anna Kathryn Johnson, and Claire Johnson; his mother, Bertha Johnson; ;three brothers: Kenneth L. Johnson of Cincinnati, OH, Ben F. Johnson of Middle Town, OH, and Bobby W. Johnson of Lexington; two sisters: Sue McIntosh of Richmond, KY, and Eula Estes of Irvine, KY; and his first cousin, (brother) Donald Larrison and his wife Janice. Funeral services were held 10 am, Fri., June 4, 2004 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grady Crowell, the Rev. Kelly Dickson, and the Rev. Dennis Pledger officiating.
