Martha Strother Obituary

STROTHER, Martha Patton Linney, died Thur., Jan. 22, 2004, in Ormond Beach, FL, at age 78. She was born May 10, 1925 to Albert and Elizabeth Hicks Linney in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with an art degree and was in Kappa Delta Sorority. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Hood Strother, two children, Morris Linney Strother (Sheila Donovan) and Lois Elizabeth Strother Higginbotham, two grandchildren, Matthew Strother Higginbotham, and Lauren Strother. Martha was active in the Metropolitan Woman's Club, Garden Club, Meals on Wheels and Girl Scouts in Lexington. In Florida, she was a volunteer at Florida Hospital Memorial for 13 years, a member of Central Baptist Church, the Wednesday Women's Group, Kappa Delta Alumnae and UK Alumni Association. An avid UK basketball fan, she enjoyed traveling, playing golf, entertaining, playing the piano, listening to jazz and 1940's swing music. She will be missed.
