Myra Suffoletta Obituary

Myra Green Suffoletta, 89, of Georgetown, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 9, 2018. Born September 14, 1928 in Georgetown, Ky, to Edna and Lonnie Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Robert, and her husband of 62 years, Albert Sandy Suffoletta who was affectionately known as "Suff." Myra graduated from Garth High School and Georgetown College where she majored in chemistry and education. She taught chemistry, science and math at Scott County High School. She served on the Associate Board of Georgetown College and was a lifelong member of Georgetown Baptist Church. Myra and Suff went to Ohio after they were married in 1950, to work with Suff's family in the furniture business. They returned to Georgetown in 1961 when they started Suff's Furniture in Georgetown. She encouraged her husband to work on building a swimming pool and a park in Georgetown, which he did successfully. The Scott County Parks and Recreation Board named the park and pool The Robert Lonnie Suffoletta Memorial Park and Pool in his memory. Once the furniture store was self sufficient, Myra put her energies into raising her family. She was a faithful Christian, loved her family and her community. Survivors include her son, Richard (Sandy) of Georgetown and daughter Jean (Kevin) Tennant of Shelbyville, TN; three grandchildren Terri (Aaron) Cook, Rick (Caris) Suffoletta and Lily Tennant; and five great grandchildren, Grace and William Cook, and Vito, Cora, and Adelaide Suffoletta. We would like to thank the following for her care: Georgetown Internal Medicine; Baptist Health Cardiology group; Dr. Greg Anderson of Associates in Neurology; Georgetown Emergency department; EMT staff in Georgetown and Lexington; Baptist Health Emergency department; Dr. Hilty and the nurses on floor 3 and 5; the staff of the Willows at Citation; Dr. Chris Christianson, Dr. Trevor Wilkes, and Dr. Blaydes; Hospice of the Bluegrass; nurses Carrie and Molly and caregiver Beverly Tackett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Kids Cancer Alliance. Visitation will be at Georgetown Baptist church, Wednesday from 11:00 AM - 2:00 followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
