Nancy Overall Obituary

ELIZABETHTOWN - Nancy James Overall, 87, died Sunday April 9, 2017. Nancy was born January 5, 1930 in Lexington, KY the youngest child of Robert Lee James and Mary Watrous James. Her idyllic childhood was spent at her family's farm, Walnut Lawn. She graduated from University High in 1948 and then from the University of Kentucky in 1952. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She married Wayne Gatton Overall Jr. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church in 1953 and moved to Elizabethtown. She was an active homemaker until she and Wayne purchased their farm in 1964. Love of animals and nature passionately engaged her. Her beloved farm provided a haven for wildlife in addition to supporting cattle, miniature donkeys, llamas, goats, chickens, pigeons, ducks and rabbits which she raised. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. She is survived by her son, David Hunt Overall, her daughter, Mary Gay Young, her son-in-law, Dennis Young, her grandchildren, Charles Lucas Overall, Dominik Fenton Overall, Hannah Watrous Young and Harris Overall Young. In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation, and there will be a private family graveside service. As a tribute to Mrs. Overall's life with animals and birds please consider a donation to ASCPA or National Audubon Society.
