Nannie Smith Obituary

Nannie Shepard Smith, 83, of Georgetown, Kentucky died at her home Tuesday, August 12, 2003. Nannie was born on June 2, 1920 in Woodford County, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Frank and Katie Lee Rogers Shepard. She retired from National Distillers after 42 years of service. She was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church and attended Penn Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Edgar (Sonny) Smith Jr. and Betty (Lorell) Votaw, both of Scott County; grandchildren, Michael Dean Votaw, of Scott County, Amy Leigh Votaw, of Scott County and Lorell William (Billy) Votaw, of Porter; step granddaughter, Dena Fuentes, of San Francisco, CA; step great grandsons, David Wayne Paul and Christopher Bennett; brothers, Paul and Everett Shepard; special childhood lifelong friends, Geneva Hasseth and Margaret Davis; special friend, Barbara Knight; several nieces, nephews and her canine companion, "Gigi". She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Shepard; and brothers, James William Shepard, Charles Voight Shepard; step brothers, Howard and James Shepard. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Sageser officiating. Burial will be in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lorell, Billy and Michael Dean Votaw, David Wilkirson, James Marshall, Cary Hall, Lewis Oliver and David Paul. Honorary bearers will be the Breakfast Group at McDonald’s, of Georgetown (Southgate). Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-9. Memorials may be made to Penn Avenue Baptist Church, 103 Penn Avenue, Georgetown, KY 40324. Guest book at Legacy.com
