P.C. Magoun

November 22, 1923 - July 3, 2025

Lexington, Kentucky - P.C. "Mac" Magoun, of Nicholasville, passed away July 3, 2025. He was the husband of Sylvia Layne Magoun and the son of the late Chester W. and Fannie Holden Magoun. Mac was born in Brunswick, Maine in 1923. However, spent most of his life in the Lexington, KY area. Besides his parents, his brothers Newton and Robert also preceded him in death.

His loving wife survives him. Mac was a federally licensed radio/television broadcast engineer. He was one of the two engineers who came from Virginia in 1954 to build and operate Lexington's first television station, WLEX (channel 18).

He resigned from WLEX in 1959 to accept a university position in Electrical Engineering, which encompassed teaching assignments. He retired from the position in 1984. He volunteered for the WWII Navy, serving two years in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater as a radioman. He was awarded three Battle Stars. Mac attended Gorham Teachers College (University of Maine at Gorham) and was a graduate of Capitol Engineering Institute in Washington, DC. He was a Kentucky Admiral. As a Baptist, Mac served as Deacon, Project Coordinator, Treasurer, Trustee, and Usher. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm Thursday July 10, 2025 with the Funeral Service at 12pm at Milward - Southland. The Graveside will follow at Lexington Cemetery. www.milwardfuneral.com
