Patricia Blanche Hines Trader

February 8, 1941 - February 4, 2025

Lexington, Kentucky - Patricia (Pat) Blanche Hines Trader passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, just 4 days before her 84th birthday. Pat was born in Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina on February 8, 1941 to Wesley and Eula Blanche Heath Hines. She was a graduate of Grainger High School in Kinston and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Atlantic Christian College (Now Barton College) in Wilson, North Carolina in 1963, majoring in Religion and Music.

While in college she met James (Jim) Henry Trader of Annapolis, Maryland. Upon her graduation, she married Jim at Northwest Christian Church in Kinston and they moved to Lexington, Kentucky where they were students at the College of the Bible (now Lexington Theological Seminary) in 1965. Pat received her Master of Religious Education degree from the Seminary.

After graduation, they moved to Maysville, Kentucky, where Jim served as Associate Minister at First Christian Church. They became parents to James Henry Trader, II.

Pat was involved in the ministry of her husband as they served churches in Kinston, Ayden, Bath and Pantego, North Carolina and in Chesapeake, Virginia, Clarksburg and Beckley, West Virginia. Jim also served as Chaplain with the Veteran's Administration Hospitals in Clarksburg and Beckley.

Pat served on several boards through the years including: the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV, Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain, NC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia.

She often functioned as church secretary, choir director, pianist, organist and worked as a typist and secretary through Kelly Services. She was an avid crafter, artist and family historian.

In 2022, she and Jim moved to Lexington, Kentucky to live in a Senior Living Community. In December of 2022, Pat suffered a stroke which left her severely impaired. For the last two years, she was under care at Northpoint Healthcare Center in Lexington.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of 61 years and her son James, of Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Donations are suggested to Christmount, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711 or to Cane Ridge, P.O. Box 26, Paris, KY 40362.
