Patsy Peck Obituary

PECK Patsy Edwards Moore, passed away on Nov 16, 2008 at the age of 81. Patsy grew up in Madisonville, KY where she married Herbert C. Moore, Jr. in 1948. After his death in 1966, she and her children moved to Lexington where she graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Physical Therapy. Patsy married Dr. David Peck in 1972. He survives. In 1978, Patsy established the Physical Therapy Department at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Her career was filled with a creative and never-ending pursuit of new tools and methodologies for treating patients. Two of her most notable inventions included pioneering the use of heat deformable plastic custom splints for treatment of hand injuries, and the "Merry Walker" or "Merry Chair" - a rolling wheelchair now commonly used in nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. Patsy ended her career as Chief Physical Therapist at Central Baptist Hospital in 1985. Patsy's true spirit of altruism and generosity is rarely matched and she will always be remembered as a model of kindness and benevolence to all that knew her. She is survived by her husband, Dr. David Peck; her sister, Lucille Mieher of Fremont, CA; her son Herbert Charles (Rip) Moore, III (Clare); one grandson, Charles Patrick Moore, all of Columbus, Indiana; and her daughter Patricia (Trish) B. Moore of Lexington. A service to celebrate her life will be this Sat, Nov 22 at 2pm at the Milward Funeral Home on Southland Dr, with visitation immediately preceding the service from 12-2pm. A service will also be held in Madisonville's First Methodist Church on Sat, Dec 6 at 2pm, with visitation immediately preceding the service from 12:30 - 2pm. Inurnment at the Madisonville Oddfellow Cemetery will follow the service on the 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributions to Hospice of the Bluegrass 2312 Alexandria Dr. Lex, KY 40504 or Taylor Manor Nursing Home, 300 Berry Ave., Versailles, KY 40383. www.milwardfuneral.com
