Richard Calvin Bentley

Richard (Rick) Calvin Bentley, 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 30, 2026, with his wife of 24 years, Sheila, by his side. Rick was born in Gray, Georgia on March 29, 1955. He is preceded in death by his mother, Florence McDade Bentley and his father, Robert Theron Bentley and a brother-in-law Bobby Crawford. He leaves behind a sister, Tina Bryant (Mark) of Dallas, Georgia and a brother Paul Bentley of Gray, Georgia. He has two children Donna Alsop (Corey) and John Bentley (Courtnie) and two stepsons Jason Kiser (Megan) and Brandon Kiser (Nikki). He has 9 grandchildren Kyra, Brian, Lanie, Jayden, Gavin, Cole, Carter, Kenzie, and Keelin. He also leaves behind his beloved pet Vinnie. Rick was an Owner at The Gathering Place Church where he served as an Elder and Leader and quietly worked in the background tending to any needs his church had. Rick's career began in 1975 at Overnite Transportation in Macon, GA and ended in 2018 when he retired from UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) in Lexington, KY where he was Regional Director of Operations. He gave back to the community through coaching youth baseball spanning decades at various organizations including Southeastern Baseball, Henry Clay Baseball, Lexington Bulls Baseball and LCA Baseball.
