Roger Bentley, A faithful servant to his Lord, his family, and his work, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on December 19, 1945, in Siluria, Alabama, he was the son of the late George and Viola Bentley.
A proud graduate from Thompson High School in 1964. It was just a few years later, in 1967, that he met the love of his life, Linda, at Jack’s Restaurant. Their connection was immediate; they married on May 18, 1968, beginning a beautiful journey of nearly 58 years of marriage.
His professional life was marked by the same steadiness that defined his character. He dedicated 38 years to the Blue Circle Cement plant, working there from 1967 until his retirement in 2005. To those who knew him, he was the strongest man they had ever met—a strength seen not just in his hands, but in his character.
The couple lived briefly in Hapeville, Georgia, and Smyrna, Georgia before settling in Douglasville in 1971 to raise their family. A devoted servant of the Lord, he served as a deacon, and he and Linda raised their children in the faith at Prays Mill Baptist and County Line Baptist churches. For many years, he and Linda have been cherished members of First Baptist Church Villa Rica. In his free time, he found great joy in being anywhere his grandchildren were, being with friends from church and tinkering around his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Viola Bentley, and siblings, Travis Bentley, Eddie Bentley, and Myrna Overton.
His legacy of love and strength lives on through his devoted wife, Linda Bentley; his son, Dale Bentley (Natalie); and his daughter, Holly Bradley (David). He was the proud grandfather to Marlow, Reece, and Garrett Bentley, Reagan and Avery Bradley, and Hayden Petty.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with a memorial service at 2:00 PM with Dr. Kevin William officiating.
