Walter worked as a school custodial engineer and later at a nursing home. A car and movie buff, he was also passionate about music and liked to act as DJ for events. He was also an amateur but creative home chef.
He is survived by one daughter: Raquel Beers of Honesdale; three sons: John Michael Rainer of New Rochelle, NY, Joshua Hubbard of New Rochelle, NY and Nicholas Hubbard of Portland, OR; one sister: Patricia Cherry of Villa Rica, GA; one brother: James Manning of Rocky Mount, NC; and one grandson: Caleb Garlock.
Walter was preceded in death by a sister, June Green.
There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM until the service.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks at autismspeaks.org or any autism support organization of the donor's choice.
