Phillip Harrison Obituary

HARRISON Phillip Wayne, 52, husband of Jana Leigh Gettel-finger Harrison, died Wed, July 6, 2016 at the Hospice Care Center. Born March 5, 1964 in Lexington, KY, he was the son of the late Paul Robert and Margaret Bruce Harrison. Phillip served his community for 29 years. He worked at the Fayette Detention Center for nine years before joining the Lexington Police Department. Phillip was a patrolman for three years before becoming a detective in the Bureau of Investigation Property Crimes Section. During his 16 years with the Bureau he served in the Larceny Crime Unit, U.S. Marshal's Task Force, Residential Burglary Unit and Major Violators Unit. Phillip finished his career in the Support Service Unit as the Alcohol Beverage Control officer and retired from Lexington Police May 11, 2016. He was a member of the F.O.P. and Crossroads Christian Church. Survivors other than his wife include a daughter, Maggie Grace Harrison; step-daughter, Kara Fredlock; step-son, Michael Fredlock; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2pm Fri, July 8, at Southland Christian Church, Richmond Rd. by Sergeant Randall Combs. Entombment will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10am till time of the service on Friday at Southland Christian Church, Richmond Rd. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr, Lexington, KY 40504. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. is in charge of arrangements.

My family has known Phillip since 1978.He was my brother John's best friend. He has always been there for us through marriages, births and deaths. He opened his home to us the night of my brothers visitation. He was a great friend! My nephew was named after him.We will miss you Phillip! God bless you and your family! May you rest in peace!

Philip was our neighbor several years ago! Even in the midst of such a devastating cancer diagnosis he maintained a positive outlook. We send our love and prayers to his family and friends! He will be greatly missed-gone but never forgotten! Love, The Blakeman's
