Phillip Robinson Obituary

RICHMOND - Dr. Phillip Robinson, 75, passed away on Dec 9, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY. Dr. Robinson was born on September 26, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH. He was a graduate of the Kentucky Military Institute and received degrees in chemistry and biology from Eastern Kentucky University. He also graduated from the University of Louisville College of Dentistry. He was an active member of the American Legion, American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, University of Louisville Alumni Association, EKU Alumni Association, Military Officers' Association, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was a member of St. Hubert's Episcopal Church. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, where he served for twenty-three years as a dental officer. His career included several tours of duty; most notable was his assignment to Vietnam where he served aboard the U.S.N.S. Corpus Christi Bay. He also served in Germany. His stateside assignments included Fort Sam Houston, TX; White Sands Missile Range, Fort Knox, KY; Fort Rucker, AL; and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He received the following decorations and commendations: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, two National Defense Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm Leaf, and Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal. Prior to his entry into the United States Army, he practiced dentistry in Berea, KY. After his retirement he remained active, traveling, practicing dentistry, enjoying his children and grandchildren, and keeping up with college football, basketball and the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include: his wife, Joan Light Robinson; son, Murray Stanford (Trina) Robinson and children: Nathan and Molly, Lauren Kays, and Logan and Jordan Cruse; son, Marsh Harrison (Monika) Robinson and children: Miranda and Marsh Jr.; daughter, Polly Myers (Don) Helm and children: Ellie and Hannah; and daughter, Amy Myers (Scott) Johnson and children: Wiles and Sarah. Visitation for Dr. Phillip Robinson will be from 11am until 1pm on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, directly followed by a memorial service at the Richmond Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Charles Ellestad. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475, or to St. Hubert's Episcopal Church, P.O.
