Dearest Kathy,
It is hard to believe that the year has gone by without opportunities to visit with Ray. We had such wonderful talks about fishing and rural Kentucky. And there are also many ministries around the state that greatly miss his presence.

I realize this is my second entry in this guest book but I had to touch base and let you know that you and Ray will always hold a very dear place in my heart.

Your brother in Christ,
Mark

Kathy and family,
Dr. Ranta interviewed me for my job
at the U.K. Extension Service in 1967. He was one of my favorite men.

My deepest sympathy to Ray's whole family. I only met Ray a couple times but I remember him very well and he was a very sweet man. He will be missed. I am Bob/Carol Maurer's sister.

I had the privilege of knowing Ray from inside....I am one of his 2 son-in-laws. I remember when I proposed to his daughter, Janel, and soon after that was invited to come to his house for a get-aquainted dinner. I was nervous about this because I was afraid he would not like me. I was in his and Kathy's house for about 5 minutes which was all the time it took for him to make me feel completely at ease and like I was already part of his family. He was who I went to for advice and counsel. I will miss him for more reasons than I can list here.
I will never get use to him not being around anymore.

Kathy,

I was saddened to hear of Ray's passing on Friday. Ray was one of those folks that always enjoyed life and made sure others enjoyed it too. Setting here this morning, I remembering our Derby Parties (Ray and his tote board) and potluck dinners. Ray loved people - the more the better. We will all miss Ray, certainly no one more than you. Please know you are in our hearts and prayers and listen, you might just hear Ray making new friends, reacquainting with old friends and just having a great time in that special place he has gone.

Ray and Kathy have been such an affirming presence in my life and ministry over these past several years. Ray's love for fishing and rural Kentucky drew me into wonderful conversations with him. I am privileged to have had him as a friend and example of faith in God.

Ray's funny stories and gentle laugh will be missed. I always loved the stories about fishing and Kentucky basketball. It was our common bond. Us Michiganders up here love him a lot, thats for sure.
