Ruby Creech

CREECH, Ruby, 89, widow of Maura Creech, passed away Fri., Oct. 15, 2004. Reared in Harlan County, she was a daughter of E.T. and Lula Williams. A charter member of Rosemont Baptist Church, and a past member of Forks of Elkhorn and Versailles Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and led the Women's Missionary Union. As a Deacon's wife, she always welcomed the visiting revival and music clergy to her home for a meal and overnight stay. Mrs. Creech owned and operated Creech Department Stores in Lexington and Versailles since 1945. She served as Director of the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce, the Red Cross and past President of the BP&W Club. In 1978, she received the Woman of Achievement Award for her community involvement with needy children and families. Survivors include her children, Donald Creech, Glenda Creech, Ken (Patty) Creech of Lexington and Jerry (Pat) Creech of Memphis, TN; a brother, Roy Williams of Palm Harbor, FL and a sister, Mabel Lewis, of Lexington; grandchildren ,Jeff and Jennifer Henderson, Lynsey, Laura and Susan Creech, of Lexington and Ashley Creech of Jacksonville, FL; a great grandaughter, Hope Henderson. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 pm today at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with Dr. James C.
