Lexington, Kentucky - Ruth S. Webster, 93, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at The Home Place in Midway. Ruth was born in Mercer County, Kentucky on December 22, 1927 to the late Hurtle and Nora (Divine) Scott.
She united in marriage to Lawson A. Webster on August 26, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Joyce U. Scott on December 2, 2019.
Most of her life she worked hard as a wife, mother and servant to God. She was employed for 10 years as a receptionist at Gainesway Small Animal Clinic before retirement.
Ruth lived for her family and friends and particularly her Southland Christian Church family. Many have affectionately nicknamed her as the "Matriarch of the Church" since she was a member for 59 years. During those years she served as Director of Whirly Birds for 32 years, 10 years teaching Sunday School to Special Needs children, was leader of Women's Bible Study for at least 20 years and was Vacation Bible school coordinator for several years. SCC honored her in 2017 with the prestigious Servant Award for all her efforts and she said she did it all for God as she lived her life.
Ruth is survived by sons Dale (Barbara) Webster of Georgetown, KY and Roger (Donna) Webster of Prospect, KY, granddaughter, Kristin Webster and her fiancée Chris Pieper also of Georgetown, KY.
Services on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Southland Christian Church, Bldg. A, 5001 Harrodsburg Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356: Family will receive friends for visitation from 10-12 with her service immediately following at 12pm. Interment will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers: Joe Arnold, Guy Colson, George Gilpin, Brewster McLeod, Chris Pieper, Stephen Turner, and Todd Tyler.
