Lexington, Kentucky - Sulpicia Marca, age 91, passed away September 21, 2025 in Lexington, KY. She was born on April 20, 1934, in Bohol, Philippines, to Ireneo Ytis and Maria Mascariñas. She was born into a family of twelve brothers and sisters. Those who knew her often called her by her nicknames which were "Inday" and "Sue."

Sulpicia's career as a physician spanned over five decades. She was a trailblazer of her time, when there were few female doctors. When she first came to the United States, she decided to complete her residency in psychiatry. She worked as a psychiatrist for a number of hospitals and clinics, including Eastern State Hospital and University of Kentucky of Lexington, KY, and Madison State Hospital of Madison, IN. She also had her own private practice in psychiatry for a number of years.

Sulpicia was a passionate patron of the arts. She especially enjoyed art galleries, theatrical plays, concerts, and music of all types. She attended concerts of popular singers and bands, such as The Rat Pack, Tony Bennett, Olivia Newton-John, and Elvis, but her favorite singer of all time was Dionne Warwick. Sulpicia also was a devout Catholic, and she was a parishioner of Christ the King.

In addition to her parents, Sulpicia was preceded in death by her husband, Pacifico Marca. She is survived by her daughter Myrna Schelling and her son-in-law Steven Stanley. She was fiercely independent, kind, and giving to others. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and love. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Milward,1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington, KY, on Thursday, October 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The service will be held at the Lexington Cemetery on Friday, October 10th starting at 1:30 p.m. www.milwardfuneral.com
