Thomas Jeffries "Jeff" Harlan Jr.

PARIS - Thomas Jeffries "Jeff" Harlan, Jr, 93, died Thu, May 20, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sara Wills Harlan; two sons, Thomas Jeffries Harlan III of Lexington, KY and Douglas Wills Harlan (Jeanne) of Jacksonville, FL; three grandsons, Jason Douglas Harlan of Atlanta, GA, Brett Thomas Harlan of Charlotte, NC and Seth William Harlan of Nashville, TN; two nieces, Paula Taylor (Ferguson) of Lexington, KY and Louise Kadden (Ralph) of West Hartford, CT; and one nephew, John Harlan (Kaye) of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Marcus Harlan of Nashville, TN. A veteran of WWII, Captain Harlan was awarded "The Distinguished Flying Cross" while serving as a B-17 Pilot in the 8th Air Force. He was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, KY where he served as both Deacon and Elder. Jeff's last employment after retiring as a successful business owner was with Kentucky Bank. Funeral services will be held 1pm Mon at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY with visitation beginning at 11am Mon until service time. Burial will follow in the Paris Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason, Brett, Seth, John, and Peter Harlan, Ron Minke, Shack Parrish, and Joe McClain. Honorary pallbearers will be Ferguson Taylor, Ralph Kadden, Dave Parrish, Greg Page, and Ricky Mingua Our thanks go out to Bourbon Heights and their professional, dedicated staff who cared for Jeff, and to May, Jeff's caregiver who enabled Jeff to enjoy his days at home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Presbyterian Church, 517 Pleasant St., Paris, KY 40361. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
