Vernon Bryant Obituary

BRYANT Vernon. Son of the late E.V. and Bee Bryant, Vernon was born in Winchester, KY, 85 years ago and died on Aug. 20, 2006 in Bradenton, FL. He was preceded in death by a half brother Floyd McKinney. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Josephine A. Bryant, three sons: Charles (Rosemary), Terry (Gail), and Wayne (Martha) of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren: Chuck Bryant, Nashville, TN, Angela (Gary) Miller, Cincinnati, OH; Michelle (Wade) Carpenter and Scott (Lisa) Bryant, Kathryn Bryant, Lexington, KY; and eight great grandchildren. Vernon graduated in 1940 from Henry Clay High School in Lexington. After serving with the First Cavalry in Japan during WWII, he participated in the family music business. In 1953 he started the first equipment rental store, Bryant's Rent-All, in Lexington and operated it for 29 years. He was an active and faithful member of Woodland Christian Church of Lexington and Unity Church of Sarasota, FL, Memorial gifts may be made to Woodland Christian Church, 530 East High Street, Lexington, KY, 40502 or Unity Church of Sarasota, F3023 Proctor Road, Sarasota, FL, 34231. A memorial service will be held at Unity Church of Sarasota on Fri, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. and a later date in Lexington.
