Leland Domann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnett Family Funeral Home - Oskaloosa on Mar. 30, 2026.
Leland "Lee" Paul Domann, 76, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Baptist Health- Lexington. He was the husband of Elizabeth Gale Domann.

Lee was born on June 1, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas, and was the son of Paul William and Leona Lucille Grant Domann, both of whom preceded him in death. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, and spent over 50 years in ministry with the United Methodist Church. Lee had a God-given talent for singing, performing, and writing music, which was inspired in his early years in Kansas by his mother who was a pianist and music teacher in their hometown. Lee comprised seven albums of his own music during his career. He was a gifted storyteller, and wrote and performed the one man show "Down to Monterey." He wrote thousands of songs including: "Howard Gray", "Jesus Laughing", and "Death Ain't No Big Deal." His songs have been recorded by such artists as Kathy Mattea, Riders in the Sky, Mark Lowry, The Bishops, and Wendy Bagwell & the Sunliters. Lee sang and traveled with the group Dust & Ashes. He loved playing his guitar and was still singing even during his last hospital stay just days before his passing.

Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth Gale Domann, of Richmond; one son, William Henry Paul Domann, of Nashville, TN; and two step-children, Heather Elizabeth Gale, of Richmond, and Michael David Gale, of Crestwood, KY.
